Quick Social Media Tips


Twitter

  1. Ask yourself do you need to be on? Why? If you are a B to B business Facebook might not be the best place for you.

  2. Pick a user name easy to remember

  3. Make sure you upload a profile, background and header picture or image.

  4. Use #Hashtags to create and join into trending topics.

  5. Remember your 140 count min. Posts can read funny if cut off.

Blogs

  1. Great for SEO.  Google loves new and fresh content.

  2. Keep it short and sweet and add a picture or graphic.  If something ends up being very in-depth, try breaking it into different posts.

  3. Link back to your website or other social media sites

Google

  1. Are you a nonprofit that has a  current 501(c)(3) status? You could qualify for A $10,000 a month Google Ad Grant. go to  http://www.google.com/nonprofits/ for more info and to apply.

  2. If you have a location make sure you go to http://www.google.com/business/ to register the business and complete all of your information.

Facebook

  1. Ask yourself do you need to be on? Why? If you are a B to B business Facebook might not be the best place for you.

  2. Have a separate business and personal page.  Facebook frowns upon usig a personal page for business, plus business pages have some better features like being able to schedule posts.

  3. Use pictures.  Take Selfies, and fun pictures at your business, nonprofit. or at events.  People connect with people.

  4. Use customizable links.  Using a service like bitly.com will let you not only shorten the link but customize it so it is readable.

  5. Don’t make it all about you. Ask questions. Post about other things that are interesting to you as a company or nonprofit.
